Opportunities and Resources for French Studies Students
Study Abroad
French Studies students are encouraged to study abroad. Many students visit Montpellier for a semester (or for 4 weeks over the summer) through the University of Minnesota program. Professor Lindaman also leads an 8-week, research-intensive study abroad program to Morocco during odd years. Upon graduating, many of our students have pursued opportunities to teach English in French schools. To learn about any of these opportunities, please come see a faculty member or visit the Study Abroad website to research other approved programs.
Scholarships

French Club
French Club meets regularly during the school year for movies, game nights, dinners, and other French cultural events. Please contact Professor Dana Lindaman ([email protected]) for information about meetings and activities.
Library Resources

Departmental Honors
Students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.30 in all French Studies concentration courses may be invited by faculty to submit a sample of their work, in order to be considered for departmental honors and to receive a degree with distinction. Please contact the department for further information.
Tutoring
Upper division students are encouraged to participate as tutors for the lower division courses. Speak with a member of our French Studies faculty for more information.
UROP
Participation in UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) is encouraged so that students can work jointly on research topics of mutual interest with a faculty member.
MOBLL
French faculty belong to the MOBLL group at UMD, a team of faculty from across disciplines working on building apps that can improve the learning experience. Students interested in working with this group can contact Professor Lindaman for more details.
