The Department of Art & Design at the University of MinnesotaDuluth invites the public to the Annual Student Exhibition: Layers at the Tweed Museum of Art and to a UMD Student Art Market on April 9 in Ordean Court. Art & Design’s Annual Student Exhibition: Layers runs from March 29 - April 24 at the Tweed Museum of Art. This is an annual exhibition of work executed by UMD students and juried by visiting artists and designers. This year’s jurors are graphic designer, Yahya Rushdi, and artist, Nishant Saldanha. The jurors will talk about their work at the last Visual Culture Lecture Series event on Tuesday, April 5th at 6pm on zoom.
This year’s Annual Student Exhibition: Layers, features over 67 works of art which represent the full range of making in the department including: animation, ceramics, digital art, drawing, graphic design, motion graphics, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video. The exhibition design and website were created, in collaboration with the Tweed Museum of Art team, by students currently enrolled in graphic design courses at UMD. The exhibition asks “what creates you” and encourages belonging, solidarity, and love in our communities.
Join students, faculty, staff, and community members on Tuesday, April 19th from 5-7pm at the Annual Student Show Reception. Help us celebrate the students’ work. Formal program including the announcement of awards and scholarships recipients will begin at 6pm.
