She Loves Me

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)

Director – Jenna Soleo-Shanks
Three actors will be cast and not necessarily male (as the script suggests), so casting is open to everyone.
Rehearsals start November 7 [no rehearsal over winter break]. Performances February 2-11, 2017

Audition Details

WHEN
Saturday, September 3rd: General Call 10am-5:15pm
Dance Calls at 10-10:45 and 11-11:45am.  Required for those auditioning for She Loves Me.  Ladies should
Sunday, September 4th: Callbacks, She Loves Me 10:30am-2:30pm
Monday, September 5th: Callbacks, Complete Works…  9:30am-Noon


What to Prepare for the Individual Audition Slots*

  • Be familiar with the shows. Copies of the scripts will be available for check out from the main theatre office once the semester begins.
  • For both shows, A comic monologue, 45 seconds to 1 minute in length, ideally showing facility with language, timing, and physicality.
  • For She Loves Me, A 32 bar cutting of a song. From the show is preferred, but the song should definitely be appropriate to the style of the show if not directly from it. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key for your voice. 
  • For She Loves Me, please come in with a clear idea of what character(s) you are most interested in being considered for.

*Note: Remember that all provisional and full BFA Theatre performance students are required to audition for both shows and accept roles as cast.  BA Theatre students and non-majors may choose to audition for one or both, but also accept roles as cast.

What to Prepare for the Dance Call

Nothing to prepare, as a combination will be taught, but all auditioners should wear appropriate dance attire that allows the lines of the body to be seen clearly.  Ladies should wear character heels if you have them, otherwise jazz shoes. Men should wear jazz shoes.
