The Center for Community and Regional Research is no longer active.
The primary focus of the Center was community-based education at UMD, providing faculty and students in the social and natural sciences and related fields the opportunity to work with local and regional community organizations. With that focus, students applied research skills and principles of social engagement and analysis, UMD faculty received funding for projects in which they applied their expert knowledge and skills in a real-world local context, and local organizations, communities and agencies benefitted through research on issues central to them. CCRR was a unit of the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at UMD. CLA enabled the Center to better link with other research and outreach initiatives in the College, and at UMD, therefore creating greater and farther reaching opportunities for students, faculty and communities.
