Bio

Kate Ufema, a Voice and Speech/Musical Theatre Specialist in the Professional Actor-Training Program in the Department of Theatre at the University of Minnesota Duluth, is also an Equity actress and singer, a professional director, musical director, vocal/dialect/text/singing coach, and a professional voice consultant and trainer.  She trains and coaches voices in all the performance media including contracts with CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, National Public Radio and American Public Radio, and is particularly known for her approaches to vocal extremes (stage screaming, shouting, and Broadway belt singing).  She has acted, directed, and coached in theatres across the country, and has presented workshops and adjudicated theatre competitions and festivals from Colorado to the East Coast, and in Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Scotland, Finland, Italy, and South Africa.  Ms. Ufema is a charter member and a Past President of VASTA, the Voice and Speech Trainers Association, and holds B.A., M.A., and M.F.A. degrees from Penn State University.
