The UMD Senior High Honor Band Festival
Friday, November 4-Saturday, November 5, 2016
Once again the University of Minnesota Duluth will host the 59th UMD Honor Band Festival this November 4 and November 5, 2016. This year we are bringing to campus David Gillingham. We are so very excited that this award winning and outstanding composer has accepted the invitation to be on our campus for the festival. David will be presenting clinics and we will feature him on the stage conducting the bands!!!! As always, the UMD Wind and Percussion faculty will also be giving clinics and demonstrations throughout the two-day event.
The rehearsals will begin on Friday morning and end with a concert held on Saturday afternoon. Students participating in the honor bands will be attending clinic sessions by the UMD wind and percussion faculty and attending concerts performed by the UMD Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra conducted by Mr. Gillingham and myself. A mailing will be sent out in early fall with more detailed information concerning the clinic sessions and honors bands. For more information please contact me at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I may be reached at 218-726-6124 or by email at email@example.com. You may go to our web site at http://www.d.umn.edu/music/umdbands/ for further information.

The Junior High Honor band will take place in the spring. The date is Tuesday, February 28, 2017. We will again have three bands. We have not finalized the conductors yet but I will send you more information as it develops.
As you may know, we have a wonderful, energetic faculty ready to be of service to you and your students. We will be calling many of you this fall to see if there is any way we can help your program. Also, you should feel free to call us to request our assistance. If there are any students who are interested in attending UMD next year please let us know we’ll be happy to contact them to answer any questions they might have. In either case we would enjoy meeting with you and your students.
